our reason of being

The Coalition for the Preservation of Mont-Kaaikop is a Canadian collective dedicated to promoting environmental assets. We are a non-profit organization registered with the Québec Business Register. Our non-partisan organization campaigns for the natural preservation and perpetuity of Mont-Kaaikop, a wild and diversified territory comprised of Mount Kaaikop itself, surrounding public lands and a biodiversity corridor linking Mont-Tremblant, Mount Kaaikop, Mohawk Territory of Tioweroton and the proposed protected area of Forêt Ouareau.

The goal of our approach is to enable the sustainable development of the area so that nature and people can thrive in harmony.

Many have at heart the long-term ecological and economic health of the region. That's why we get the support of the Municipality of Sainte-Lucie-des-Laurentides, several surrounding municipalities, the Mohawk communities of Kahnawake and Kanesatake, L'Interval outdoor facility and many more local and national recreation, tourism and environmental associations.

Our partners and supporters include thousands of citizens here and abroad, scholars of various specialties, conservation groups, environmentalists, businesses and private landowners, namely the communities of the First Nations of Canada.

Our conservancy vision takes into account a clear desire of connectivity between Mont-Kaaikop and other natural territories, to allow the free movement and expansion of animal, plant and forest species.

Our conservation efforts must be based on a large-scale vision to have a significant regional impact.

Moreover, this will of preservation marks the path to other personal, local and regional initiatives, to education and advocates efforts against climate change, on the one hand and, on the other, opposes to the rapacity of an economically quick gain, which undermines the quality of life of all.
